Inventory and Data Collection

The inventory phase of the study requires the collection of basic data about study area, including its physical features, and land use. Data classified into three types: (1) physical inventory, (2) operational parameters, and (3) special purpose data. Data collection may be classified as Administrative, which is the assembly of data already available in office files or Field, which involves measurements or observations of existing conditions. They may be Static Inventories or Dynamic Studies involving operational measurements. The initial study phase is an important element to all-subsequent analysis projections and recommendations. For this reasons we have defined a comprehensive, integrated approach to collect all necessary data and establish baseline conditions. At the end of this study phase we will have collected base line data on all four parts of the study – traffic congestion, circulation, land use and parking. The viability and accuracy of later analyses and recommendations largely depends on the quality and level of detail of the data collected in phase 1. Therefore, we propose to focus study efforts – 40 percent of projected labor hours – on data collection and classification activities.
